Born and raised in Arizona, James grew up in a very big and musical family. Starting with piano lessons at age 7, he later became interested in many other instruments, such as bass, guitar, and ukulele. With a constant craving for playing music, James took his guitar and joined the street performers at First Friday every month downtown Phoenix. Gathering a repertoire of various different genres, he began to find his own sound. At age 18, he self produced an EP album, Brain Storm. This demo was beginning of his career as a singer/songwriter. James then took his original and cover songs and began playing out at local bars, coffee shops, and restaurants. While getting his name out, he also performed at private parties around town. Currently, James Groft is working on his next set of songs for his EP, which will be released 2014, and his first full length album. Stay tuned to find out more and hear new music.
